But they're just kids. They have all the time in the world, right?
At least, that's what they think.
But one horribly fateful night, just days after Annabeth's fifteenth birthday, Percy disappears without a trace. And even though she never stops searching for him, she never sees him again.
For Annabeth, six years pass. Percy is gone, presumed dead. And she is stuck in place, surrounded but alone, mourning her best friend. She's never quite able to forget about him, the green-eyed boy who had cradled her heart so gently in his hands, before dropping it, shattering it into a million fragments.
