After Azadija's parents are violently taken away by the police, she struggles to support her siblings. Rajimyna, a girl in the neighboring country's home is destroyed by a bomb. Then Azadija discovers a trunk while sorting through some stuff she can sell to keep her family alive. The trunk contains a logbook with names and dates of refugees. Rajimyna's family starts to make the dangerous journey to Sinashi as refugees, and her father is left behind. Azadija finds a secret door in the back of the storeroom in their courtyard that leads to a huge collection of courtyards and houses. These houses are occupied by refugees. Azadija's parents have been helping them cross the border and hiding them here. Azadija is informed of another group of refugees that are arriving the next day. Can Azadija manage to sneak Rajimyna and the refugees safely over the border?
