When people think about Hineta Shoya, they think about the happy boy who is brighter than the sun with a seemingly never-ending store of energy. People think about the volleyball obsessed boy who trained before the sun had risen and trained passed the sunset. People think about the dumb child who hated all academics and could barely pass his classes.

People thought about that, they didn't want to think about the truth. They didn't want to think about the pain Hineta felt whenever he runs. They didn't think about how he would limp every once in a while. They didn't think about the glisten on metal that shined out of his trouser bottom.

Hineta Shoyo only had half a leg, and he was determined to make sure no one else found out about it. It helped that they didn't seem to want to find out either.
