Lajablesse also known as La Diablesse is a character from Caribbean folklore. She is always described the same way a beautiful woman with a broad brimmed hat and a long white dress meant to hide the fact that one of her feet is in fact a cloven hoof. She is particularly fond of attending belle air dances and can be seen at night in the forest or on lonely roads after festivities where she entices stray men. Men who fall victim to Lajablesse are always found the next day at the bottom of a precipice with their neck broken. Who and what Lajablesse is varies between stories. Sometimes she's a witch who has made a pact with the devil, sometimes she's a demon, and often she is the ghost of a woman who was wronged or killed by a man. Her stories are typically told from the perspective of the victim or an outside observer so I thought it would be fun to see what a story would look like from her perspective.
