❝ Love cannot endure indifference. It needs to be wanted. Like a lamp, it needs to be fed out of the oil of another's heart, or its flame burns low. ❞

- Henry Ward Beecher

OLIVER arrived at his hometown province just before this pandemic started. He's only here for a week or two but it seems it will be longer. It doesn't bother him anyways - in fact, he's happy and excited about it. Staying here at Azure with his Ama (grandma) always gave him that good feeling of contentment and delight. Everyday is a brand new day to learn and experience something new.

One day, as he was taking a jog at his favorite spot, a serene seaside, just to warm up his body for his daily morning workout like he always do, he didn't notice he ran over someone. When he looked back, he did ran over someone. He went back and saw this seventeen-year old boy lying. It seems someone just passed out after drinking some bottles of hard liquor.

At that moment, at that closer first look at the boy's quite pale face, Oliver knew he felt something. He doesn't know exactly what. All he knows is that he felt something. Something mysterious yet magical.

He now wants to know the what, who and why but how? All he knows is that this boy's hair was gray. It was the purest and rarest shade of gray he had ever seen.

Aerion curled into Damien, clinging like something broken. Damien stroked his hair in silence, gentle, aching. "Aerion?" he whispered. Aerion pressed closer, unwilling to let go. "You have to leave." "Why?" came the muffled reply. "I want to stay. With you." "It's not right," Damien said. "To want the one who hurt you. To bleed for the hand that broke you." "And is it right to let go of the only thing you've ever known?" Aerion's voice trembled. "You hurt me. I know. But it doesn't matter." Damien's voice turned low. "Because I've been your whole world for a while-your joy, your ruin. I broke you. And still, you cling to me. Not out of love, but because pain feels familiar." Damien paused. "I once felt that for you." Aerion looked up, desperate. "Then how did you let go?" Damien met his eyes. "I didn't," he said. "You left." ----------- Aerion and Damien had wounded each other beyond repair-but neither ever truly let go. Millennia ago, Aerion betrayed Damien, and died for it. Now, in another life, they meet again. Damien saves a boy from being sacrificed to a god-not out of mercy, but bloodlust. He didn't know the boy was Aerion reborn. Not at first. But once he saw it-once he knew-his cruelty sharpened. Damien never speaks of the betrayal. He doesn't need to. His silence is thick with rage... and something else. That old, cursed fondness, crawling back in. Aerion, unaware of who he once was, cowers before the titan. But still, he slowly found himself drawn to him. Because in this life, Damien-cruel, cold and brutal-was the kindest one he'd ever known. -----------

Book one of three in the Project Trilogy MUST BE READ IN ORDER EMERY GRAY: I'm the friend who likes doing cute things for my friends if I notice they aren't mentally doing well. I enjoy making uplifting cards or beaded bracelets just so they can smile. I do this for holidays, too, because I know the holidays can be hard for some. I never knew my friend group was secretly against me the entire time. After overhearing them laugh at my expense, I'm about to walk away. When I turn, I slam right into a very tall wall of muscle that sends me backward before another hand shoots out and catches my elbow before I fall. When I look up, I see them. The infamous Triple-A. Everyone hates them. They don't trust anyone. They're cruel. Those are all things I've heard but never witnessed. After they drag me away from my supposed group of friends, they offer me a safe place with them. I decline. I declined because my brother would have my head if I accepted. If Ellis found out I befriended the group he hated, I wouldn't know what to do. But a member of Triple-A has noticed me. Alaric Benson. The jokester. The class-clown. The one with the amazing hazel eyes that I start getting lost in. No, I can't befriend Triple-A, but the offer becomes harder to resist when I realize how alone I feel. I befriended them, and they started helping me find out who I am. They aren't cruel like everyone believes. Not unless they have to be. So, where did everyone get this idea? Oh, god, someone help me. I don't know how much longer I can resist Alaric Benson. Falling in love with him is a recipe for disaster! Right? If my brother finds out, I don't know what will happen, but I can't resist him anymore. Screw the damage I'll take from the fallout. It's my life, and I need to remember that.
