Regulus Black played piano softly as he cried.
His mother currently wasn't home and knew his brother didn't care. So he played and he played well. Every touch sounded perfect and was immaculately timed to his tears falling and emotions felt.
He felt alone in this world and hated it.
That was until a certain James Potter came downstairs and while looking for the kitchen ran into Regulus playing.
~I promise I'll never let you go. You make me who I am, how could I ever let that go?~

James Potter, concerned about his best friend-Sirius Black-not responding to his letters, writes to Regulus Black in a moment of desperation. Ever since Sirius's escaped from his family, James cannot stop wondering if Regulus is alright now that he is alone. James tries to talk to Regulus when they return to Hogwarts, hoping to become closer to him. He knows he should not approach Regulus. He knows Regulus is his best friend's younger brother. He knows Sirius would be furious. But he also knows that the curiosity of the forbidden and the allure of secrets make him feel alive. Once actions are taken, they cannot be undone.
