Forever and Always

"Are you with me?"
Sirius asked Remus this with his hand reaching out to him, his vibrant grey eyes capturing Remus' gaze instantaneously.
"Forever and always, Pads." He reached out and linked their hands together, an unbreakable chain in spite of the chaos surrounding them.
They ran into the fray, never letting go of one another, battling side by side. Sirius laughed with slightly manic excitement and Remus kept his focus on defending them as Sirius shot spell after spell after each of the swirling black cloaks. Suddenly, a spell shot through and hit Sirius square in the chest, causing him to fall backward in abrupt unconsciousness. Remus held him up with one hand and viciously battled with his other, becoming more exhausted as the moments passed.
"Stupefy!"
Remus, unable to move, slammed backward onto the ground and Sirius landed with a soft thump beside him, still unconscious. Remus fought the spell with all his might and managed to grab onto Sirius' hand beside him.
Tears filled Remus' eyes as he thought about how this could be it, "Love.... you, forever.... and always."

Remus and Sirius had been best friends since their first year, doing everything with one another and their fellow marauders, James and Peter. It's fifth year and after a summer of being apart, they come back to Hogwarts and begin to see one another in a new light. With teenage hormones and drama, the troubling homophobia that both muggles and wizard-kind held, and the start of a war; will their blossoming love hold strong, or will it break under the pressure of the world?
