Survival instinct. The ability to know what to do to save your own life. For sentient organisms, pain and fear are integral parts of this self-preservation mechanism. Pain motivates the individual to withdrawal from damaging situations, and fear causes the organism to seek safety. It's theorized to be the basis of rational thought and logical behavior. The primal part of my brain wasn't made to calmly approach a death it was perfectly aware of, but the captain taught me that I had to be more than just another scared prey animal if I wanted to truly live in this world. He taught me that I needed to do more than just survive. Attack on Titan Levi Ackermann x OC or Levi x reader if you want to be the main character Cover art is my own drawing. No manga spoilers. Hope Rose joined the Scouts to save lives, not take them. As a medic with a quiet fire, she's spent her career away from the battle-stitching wounds, calming panic, and hiding the scars no one else sees. Levi Ackerman doesn't notice people. He notices efficiency, weakness, and tactical errors. But when he is assigned to train Hope to join them in the front lines, he finds himself noticing her. Too often. Too deeply. And that, more than any Titan, terrifies him. Through forest missions, political conspiracies, near-death encounters, and the quiet stillness of after, a bond forms. First in shared silences. Then in stray glances. Then in something neither of them can name. In a time where peace is fleeting and grief is constant, Levi and Hope must decide: is surviving enough? Or is it time to start choosing to live?
