Short story initially written for a literary course at University, now translated to English as part of an application for an internship. The story tackles the reality of the lower social classes in a fictional reality that will undoubtedly feel familiar to the survivors of year 2020. I chose this story because I felt quite satisfied with the original, but sadly there's also a lot lost in translation. Still worth the reading I hope.

She was on her way to the spaceport, to board a shuttle that would take her to one of the spacecrafts that will carry all the humans off world... or so she thought. Instead, she was brought to a remote location, doomed to be left on earth, alone and miserable. Now, years later, she's ready to face the wilderness together with her "kidnapper". From here on, it's not about "what" she finds, but "how" she finds herself. Left behind is a short story that tells about a successful woman who's destiny is different than what she thought. In a mass-eviction of a doomed earth, she's the one left behind. She has to cope with things she never would have thought she would.
