Will and Lyra agreed to steal the Alethiometer back from Sir Charles (Lord Boreal), the man who had previously stolen it from Lyra. As Will held the man and Lyra ran for it, but quickly stopped herself when she found out someone holding it. And the person who stood there was no other than her mother - Mrs. Coulter!
