Denki Kaminari as a child was always made fun of for his quirk, and how inconvinient it was at times. Specifically, when he went "Stupid" after using it.
After a while of this bullying, he went to the rooftop and cried, staring at the stars. He loved the stars, and he continued to do this until he went to UA.
No one knows he still cries, and is still bullied over his quirk- so he still goes to the roof to view the bright and shiny stars, wishing to be among them.

What's so bad about being quirkless?
Izuku Midoriya more commonly known as Deku, nerd, waste of space, and useless. Little do those with quirks understand the reality of being quirkless; how hard it is to simply survive let alone live and actually enjoy what life has to offer. Denki Kaminari is a student at UA high school, a school for aspiring heroes and the students there are very hardworking. However, despite getting into UA, everyone sees Denki as a bit stupid, his quirk doesn't help when he goes brain dead either. He hides behind a fake smile and laughs off all of their comments and stupid remarks, but they really hurt him. Aizawa sensei is like a father figure for Kaminari, his home life isn't great, so he sees Aizawa as more of a parental figure. This is good and all, but if he disappoints aizawa, he has a full on mental breakdown, because he's disappointed the one person he sees is there for him as a parental figure. However, it's the same with his friends, if he let's them down, he gets afraid they'll leave him and forget about him, so he has a breakdown because of that.
