But At the first part of the story during 1960's Maryam is a Filipina and her childhood sweetheart is a son of an American military.. It describe a Filipina mother who worked as an entertainer in a club and met her AFAM White Caucasian husband as her customer. At the beginning of the story being in love and loyal with her American Military husband is not easy and both of them causes many struggles while at war. As this AFAM came back home, he is claiming a child that he owned him as his son. The future mother in law describe as too desperate to be included, to belong at the most, they said it's heaven to live in America. And she is pretending that she is good to be true, that she doesn't need money, that she is an old rich and independent that is she is just depress while husband is away with her. Then without the knowledge of her husband she is always enjoying of partying doing bad habit, gambling and social climbing. The intriguing thing is that most of AFAM or Caucasian love his wife unconditionally, being attracted even other calling as a Shrimp or 'tapon ulo'... and he is so faithful and still giving his responsibility for the child.
After some years had passed, the childhood sweetheart's been grew up and because of a gossip neighbors early as they don't expect they got married...
