“Life ... is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.”
― William Shakespeare, Macbeth
This quote signifies Karleen Jacobs life, to the point of having it printed out and pasted on her wall to remind her daily of the loss she’s been through. In her eyes life has no purpose anymore, it’s an ugly time that’s been forced upon her, where existing or not doesn’t matter any longer. Life is of no significance, as she had to learn early, because it can be taken away in the blink of an eye.
Having lost her parent’s to a car accident, Karleen is living with her uncle and is a fresh high school graduate, that’s not planning to go to college. But when she’s offered an opportunity to justify her parent’s death, and ease her troubled mind she takes it up immediately, after all it has been bothering her for years whom her parents were going out to meet, who the cause of their death was.
Trying to find that person takes Karleen out on a scavenger hunt all over New York, forcing her to make friendships and enjoy life once again, teaching her the true worth of being alive.
