Back in 2013, Elena had taken the cure and happily became human once again. Though what made it better was that the love of her life, Damon Salvatore agreed to become human with her.

Five years later, in 2018, Damon became human after Stefan injected the cure into him before sacrificing himself to kill Katherine and save Mystic Falls from hellfire. Not long after, Bonnie managed to finally awaken Elena from the sleeping coma she was spelled into.

Elena and Damon then went on to officially get married and eventually had their third child, a son they named Bennett Lorenzo, in honor of Bonnie and Enzo. Their first two children, Jenna Miranda and Grayson Jeremiah, were born a few years prior due to a fertility spell Bonnie casted on Elena, which Elena was eternally grateful for.

What happens when on June 22, Elena's 27th birthday, she gets the unfortunate news of Damon dying in a car crash on his way home? What will happen to Elena and the children?
