King Nebuchadnezzar was a beast of war, ripping through nation after nation and carrying home spoils to great Babylon. He was unaware of two ruthless spiritual entities tasked with keeping his war-mongering in check, neither did he contemplate gods from neighbouring territories and long-imprisoned enemies shaking awake and setting their gaze upon the principality of Babylon.

Amid tension among gods, spirits, and angels, King Nebuchadnezzar prepares for battle against the kingdom of Media despite an arranged marriage treaty signed by his late father. But Princess Amytis of Media is determined to do anything to keep the beastly king from bringing war to her home. Will she succeed, and will Nebuchadnezzar survive the crossfire between gods, spirits, and angels?

Shah Jamshid al-Hassan, king of the Sazian Empire, is dead. He is succeeded by three heirs: Esfandar, the crown prince; Soraya, the forgotten daughter; and Roshani- the one who killed him. Roshani felt no remorse shoving her sword through her father's heart. Nor does she have any doubts about imprisoning her cunning grandmother in the depths of the royal prison, where she can't cause any more trouble. The tyrannical tendencies in the young empress only seem to be tempered by Kasra, her infant half-brother born shortly before the coup. To protect Kasra, Roshani is determined to kill her other siblings and end this conflict once and for all. But spies and betrayers abound in the palace, and Roshani may have more enemies within than without. Esfandar's mind has always been more attuned to war than to the politics behind it. Shocked and outraged by his sisters' betrayals, he seeks to reclaim the throne that is rightfully his. His troops rally in support of their emperor, retaking the north from Roshani's forces. Yet doubt soon creeps into the young prince's mind. As his armies forge ahead, Esfandar will discover that governing and conquering are not one and the same. The large personalities of Esfandar and Roshani have always outshone Soraya in the palace. Neither the shah nor the other palace lords ever concerned themselves with the quiet girl hiding behind her mother's skirts. But now, having escaped Roshani's coup, the empire has been forced to consider Soraya a threat. Protected by the priests and magis of the fire temple, Soraya's claim to the throne is the weakest. Her only hope is a strange power from the gods, one she's not even sure she can control. Three siblings. Three armies. One crown.

They say that keep your friends close, enemies closer. But just how close? Close enough so as to have them carve out your heart, or close enough for them to secure an inevitable place inside it? How much can you trust them, that is, if you can trust them at all. --- An-Ki Naya, the third daughter of the Assyrian dynasty of Kinkha which held a short lived rule on the Persian Empire, gets abducted and brought in as a slave after a complete end to her family line. No one and nothing is left of the once mighty history of Mesopotamia, the sole rubble being her hope which is shattered by the regret of being alive. Persia expresses immense contentment with the end of the mortal enemy and takes the peace as an indicator for a rule of serenity. Only, it isn't quite so. The most treacherous member of the Kinkha blood is still alive, a threat which wasn't taken under consideration since the time she was born. An impending conspiracy dawns with her which includes many participants hidden within the empire under the forged veils of loyalty. The Lord of the Persian state of Bactria is Asmaka Araxa Kayasth, one of the five most prevalent powers which were involved in the victory of Cunaxa.
