Three days before the city of Patience, Arkansas is scheduled to be locked down due to the Pandemic, Alice Forté receives a call from her uncle in Washington D.C. warning her to stock up on supplies and prepare to stay in her home for three to six weeks. 

At first, she believes he is overreacting until she listens to local news and gets the feeling that the weird way in which the journalists behave confirms that there are some problems on the way.

She gives her neighbors a slight heads up. Like many others, they don't listen to what's going on until it's too late.
