In 2010, CMS launched the Oral Health Initiative to help states ensure that children participating in Medicaid and CHIP have access to good oral health and health services. 

Perri Sansi The purpose of the CHA is to learn more about the condition - after - of the differences in the number of children with oral diseases, to determine the factors contributing to oral and health issues, and to identify assets and resources for areas of improvement. 

Based on subjective and objective evidence, the US Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have developed an oral health program to address oral health inequities and serve the populations and areas that need it most. 

The students examined four indicators of oral health, including the number of children with oral diseases, the incidence of oral diseases, the need for dental care and access to dental services for children.
