About 13 years ago a government run company, called S.M.C, decided to create a chip that - when implanted in your brain - let you hear whatever song your soulmate was listening to. Crystal has been waiting her whole life to get her chip and find her soulmate. Well, it's more like her parents are. Crystal is still confused there's something telling her it's not right. She thought she was the only one. Until the day she is supposed to get her chip she meets a sweet girl at the bus stop. They talk until the girl has to leave. Crystal thinks shell never see her again but she could not be more wrong. Join these two girls and their friends on their adventure to stop the evil properties of the soulmate chip from spreading.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away.
