"Joe, I-" "And before you say no," he said, cutting me off, "I think both of us could benefit from this deal. Know why? This would be my one chance to make you fall for me. If you don't by the time Christmas rolls around, then I'll leave you alone or we'll go back to the way things used to be - me and you, best friends and only best friends." He took a shaky breath before adding, "Besides, we're not really running the risk of 'ruining the friendship' since, and forgive me for the harsh words, but the friendship is already ruined so..."
