The UNSC Class destroyer known as "The Free for All" has been drifting through space trying to escape from the Covenant. While they were travelling through space the crew received a transmission from a deeps of space calls out for a medical assistants in a unknown planet.

When they got there they discovered a Halo Ring in front of them, one of the Forerunner installations left behind millions of years ago. Captain William wakes up Y/n-453 to enter the ring and find the transmission.
