THAT NIGHT, Sirius Black believed he was teaching a Slytherin a lesson, not attempting a murder. He believed his three best friends would all laugh about it at breakfast in the morning, not barely glance his way. He believed everything would be normal, not the opposite.

Come Monday morning, Sirius finds himself standing in the archway of the Great Hall, unsure of where to go until his eyes catch a curly-haired girl at the end of the Ravenclaw table, steaming tea in one hand, worn book in the other.
