When the Death Angels descended upon the United States, life in Santa Cruz collapsed overnight. The coastal towns became death traps - sound echoed across the sea, drawing the creatures from miles away. Twelve teenage swimmers from two rival high schools are trapped in the chaos after a championship meet gone wrong. Their world of competitions and rivalries is shattered as silence becomes survival. Forced to cooperate, the girls establish a silent code of communication using hand signals from swim meets, mirror flashes, and tap patterns underwater. As they move through the destroyed coastline, they scavenge from deserted lifeguard stations and coastal homes, using their swimming skills to traverse dangerous inlets and underwater routes where the creatures cannot reach. But the group begins to fracture - fear, guilt, and trauma weigh heavily. Each girl's background and personality clash as they make their way south, toward rumored military evacuation points near San Diego. Their goal: find passage on a fleeing naval convoy headed for Australia, one of the few places still safe.
