One snowy December morning, Nicola Meyer awakens to find a weathered ivory envelope on her doorstep. She could tell from the cursive script which was addressed to a Miss Elizabeth Claire and the vintage stamp that this letter wasn't from her time. Upon further inspection she could make out that the Monarch on the stamp was King George IV...meaning this letter was at least 50 years old. She was in awe at how this letter turned up that day, but she made a promise that day to find this woman. She couldn't explain this feeling but she just knew, deep down that this letter was important and Elizabeth deserved to know.
This is a short story that I'm submitting for @TheCVCommunity Bethlehem: The Shining Award Show. I chose prompt 1: After 50 years, A Christmas card finally reaches its destination one frosty December day

Not all the stories are holiday themed You might notice that there are no names mentioned anywhere in the book. This is simply because I suck at thinking of names for book characters. Every prompt has its own genre (science fiction, horror, fantasy, etc.) and the stories are no longer than a 1000 words. You long to get back the Christmas magic you had as a kid-the joy of childhood-and have been trying your best to. Unexpectedly, Santa (North) knocks on your door and offers to help you get your Christmas wonder back, as he does with chosen adults every year, by letting you help deliver Christmas this holiday season. You accept the offer. But as you get into Christmas preparation, you discover that delivering Christmas and getting your wonder back is going to be much harder than you thought. Usually, people Carol's age are getting married, buying their first house, getting their first pet, etc. Her younger sister's doing all that. Good for her right? And she's doing it with Carol's ex. It has been a year since they broke up and he has been with her sister ever since and well, I'm sure you can guess the tea for that one. But it's Christmas time so 'tis the season to be jolly. She'll be seeing her two favorite people at the family reunion. Where she has promised everyone that she has happily moved on, and has someone to introduce to the family... except- she doesn't. During a trip to the grocery store, she bumps into one of the finest men she saw, which wasn't through her phone screen. So, obviously her first reaction was to ask him to be her plus one for the family reunion and to pretend that they're a couple. He Agrees! On the condition that she'll help him become Santa Claus? Weird but she agrees to do exactly that. Nick keeps claiming that he's Santa Claus's Son and that there's this whole Christmas wonderland where people compete to be Santa...she just goes with it.
