The window rolled down and Alexander yelled, "Hop in Angel." I shake my head, and resume walking. The car doesn't follow, but Alex does. He got out of his car and jogged over to me.
"Angel," He said for the second time. The nickname he'd given me. The interest he showed. Why?
"Get in the car." He said. I stop walking and turn around.
"Why do you care? You've never talked to me, why start now?" I demand. Only now did I realize how cold it was. Chicago in March was cold. He shrugs.
"Maybe I just want to be friends with someone new." He said. I stifle a laugh.
"I'm the school outcast. Think you'll gain more popularity if you befriend me?" I sneer.
"No. But maybe I'll make you life just a little bit better." He says softly. Alexander Zain, the school bad boy, wasn't as bad as he seems. He genuinely cares.
