Mariposa Diaz is the little sister of Miguel Diaz, about one year younger than Miguel. Her family and her friends nickname her "Mari" for short and she is known for her creative scientific artistic side. So when their family move to Reseda, Los Angeles California, Mariposa and Miguel both met Johnny Lawrence and thought it might not be as bad to live at their new home. But one night, when Miguel and Mariposa were jump by a group of bullies, Johnny step in and defend them by doing karate, they both got some amazed that they want to learn karate. As they start karate, her life have began to change: new friendship, Mariposa meets Eli and Demetri and becomes friends with them, grows a crush on Eli, her brother began to change in both good and bad ways, meeting Johnny's son Robby Keene, who is training with Daniel LaRusso, Johnny's old karate rival from thirty years ago, and to top of all the drama, Demetri and Eli both start to grow a love interest on Mariposa. As Mariposa learns Karate and dealing with so much drama, she started to find her balance passion between her artistic scientific life and her new karate style life.
