In 1882, Katarina Griffin was a 21 year old female living on her father's ranch in the western mountains of North Carolina. One stormy evening on her way back from town, her horse toppled over while crossing a half-broken wooden bridge over a sprawling and angry river. Katarina lands in a world named Alaria, filled with beasts of nature she has never encountered before. The childhood stories she was told as a kid about werewolves, vampires, faeries, even dragons had suddenly become real. Kat embarks on an adventure with a beautiful, cocky young man named Luciel, who teaches her the ways of this world and reveals his true self as well as unintentionally breaking the young girl out of her shell.
