"The stories were true. They were all true."
In 1882, Katarina Griffin was a 21 year old female living on her father's ranch in the western mountains of North Carolina. One stormy evening on her way back from town, her horse toppled over while crossing a half-broken wooden bridge over a sprawling and angry river. She was soon engulfed in the icy waters, her lungs hungry for air. But, when she resurfaced, it wasn't her world. Not anymore.
Katarina lands in a world named Alaria, filled with beasts of nature she has never encountered before. The childhood stories she was told as a kid about werewolves, vampires, faeries, even dragons had suddenly become real. Kat embarks on an adventure with a beautiful, cocky young man named Luciel, who teaches her the ways of this world and reveals his true self as well as unintentionally breaking the young girl out of her shell. Love, adventure, thrill, and sheer awe surrounds this land and these two star-struck companions as they fight for their lives in this emotional, shocking, heart-tugging, beautiful world.
