Rowan Ma is not the daughter of Ares. She is not the daughter of Mars. She is not even the host of Horus.

But in some strange way, she is connected to Guan Yu, the Chinese god of war, and that is more trouble than anyone expects. Especially when she washes up on Camp Half-Blood's beach, the war god's signature weapon by her side.

Luckily, Will Solace and Nico di Angelo are around to help. Unluckily, they are sucked into Rowan's quest back to the Eastern Flame along with Billie Ng - daughter of Demeter. The Jade Emperor has been dethroned by the Monkey King, causing Heaven, Earth and Hell to tear apart at the seams. Before even the West is ripped to shreds, it is their mission to stop the mischievous, troublemaking god.

So begins the Greeks' introduction to a new pantheon of gods from a civilization as old as theirs. With compassionate Billie, brooding Nico and bubbly Will, Rowan doesn't think she can handle one more person.

She is wrong.

And apparently, so is everyone else. Because, for some reason, they all thought her childhood best friend was dead.
