Hiccup was five years old when he was snatched up by a Night Fury in a raid and was never seen again. 15 years later, Berk is on another hunt for the nest, but things go wrong when a storm hits and the Chief, his wife and Gobber are stranded in an icy wasteland. While searching for shelter they're ambushed by dragons and taken to a mysterious place where they find someone who they never thought they'd see again.

Hiccup suddenly becomes ignored - Astrid's vanished, Snotlout is now the 'Dragon Conqueror', and the only friend Hiccup has is Toothless. Part 1: Hiccup runs away with Toothless when Gobber announces that he will be killing the Monstrous Nightmare. Three years later, he flys back to Berk when he finds out one of his mortal enemies plan to invade it and kill everyone he loves. Will he succeeded? How will the village react? Part 2: It's been two years since with war with BloodFury but now they have a new threat to the dragons, Drago Bludvist and Hiccup has to stop him. Along his journey he finds out his mother is still alive and is the one who has been attacking Drago, however Valka has been getting help with this...who could it be?

Hiccup has been betrayed by Astrid and banished and disowned by his father Stoick the vast. Hiccup leaves and vows that he would free all the dragons and show them the way to peace with the dragons. So he starts to raid the ships that have dragons on them and frees them. This continues for a year. He makes allies and enemies. His life seems ok but when he is shot down by a berkian dragon capturing boat. His life takes an usual twist......

Adopted by Cloudjumper when he was eight, Hiccup had been happy to leave his old life behind. But now, ten years later, Cloudjumper insists on his returning to the land of his birth. Even though it is only temporary, Hiccup is less than pleased, especially as some things clearly haven't changed. But, as he soon finds out, the journey was not made in vain.
