Detroit, the year is late 2026. Story begins two months before the first attack on Sarif Industries headquarters and continues through the Deus Ex: Human Revolution game events. Laura Werner is a freelance hacker who was hired to gather intel for unknown superiors. Mission supposed to be easy until Adam Jensen - Head of the Security didn't interrupt her plans...
This fanfic was based on my comic, but I changed some things, because those who already know the comic may consider reading the same things boring. Also during writing I felt that some scenes would be better and more emotional after changes. I had to make some major time corrections to fit my events and stretched game action to weeks/months not days. So I'm warning those of you who are not comfortable with my 2026 - 2028 time period before reading.

Though deemed power-hungry and warmongering by those fortunate enough to live outside of its rule, to Gaia Machina, it was home. Well, "home" was a stretch. Initially planned to be an espionage unit more akin to an android than her MT brethren, budget limitations reduced Gaia to just another pawn used for more destruction. That was, until a chance fight outside of Insomnia, Lucis's capital, gave her the opportunity she needed for her own freedom. She was finally able to make her own choice: to take her own side and forge her own path- a path of redemption. Throwing caution to the wind and hiding her magitek nature, she set off to join Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum in finally bringing an end to Niflheim's destruction. However, walls eventually crumble, no matter what. Her act can only be held up for so long before her new friends realize she isn't exactly the hunter she claimed to be. It also seemed that fate had more in store for the rogue magitek than just helping the Chosen King fulfill his destiny. Reminders of her past, brought into a new light by her choices in the present. Original release: 2020 Two paths stretch before Jora as he awakens in the hospital without memory nor any known records: on one, a doctor wishes to help him recover his memory; on the other, a scientist wishes to do the same. However, on their quest for the truth, not everybody has his well-being in mind as they discover the reality of his situation puts their own goals in danger. A combination of Science Fiction and Fantasy that embraces the bizarre, and is wrapped in mystery with some aspects of horror. 2020 Author's Notes are available in the comments. I highly recommend reading the chapters first! 2024 Author's Note: This story has been cancelled, and is due to be rewritten. Many aspects may likely change in the future, though. I originally took down this story because I disliked the universe I'd set up as well as the execution of the story itself, and intended on doing a reimagining. That second take came and went, burning myself out over struggles to pace it well thanks to its highly unusual and experimental structure. This story was also taken down to prevent some of the events that occurred later in it from spoiling the latter parts of "Redwater Riot." That said, I feel like it would be a good idea to rerelease this story as a sort of museum work, a way to look at what my writing was back then and how it has changed over time. I don't intend on finishing "Polaris Garden," though I do intend on a rewrite in a later "Imperial Reach: Awakening." Something much closer to what this was than what I'd done before. He walks over to me and hesitantly places his hand on my chest, "What are you doing?" I ask. He shakes his head but doesn't say anything, I watch as He places his hand over my heart, I'm sure he can feel how fast it's beating. His hand slides up my neck and rests on my cheek, my eyes flutter shut and he pulls me closer to him. "I want one minute like this, please" he says, I nod and wrap my arms around his neck and rest my head on his chest. He picks me up effortlessly and carries me to my bed, he lays down with me on top of him. He wraps one arm around my waist and the other runs through my hair, "why do you want this?" I ask. But he won't go down without a fight, and he's determined to take her down with him, dragging down with him her mind, her body... and her heart.
