Following the death of her father, Peyton is struggling to grieve. Her father was an eccentric man---a teller of ghost stories. And now that he's gone, she has only fiction to remember him by, and the new responsibility of looking after her troubled older brother all by herself. But when the fictional creatures from her father's ghost stories start coming to life, Peyton learns that she has much more responsibility than she ever knew. Trying to piece together her shattered reality, Peyton will have to make the choice to either accept what has come to light or give herself over to the waiting darkness.

I sigh, feeling myself accepting letting go, drifting in his nebulous haven. He is his own shapeless universe, alight with all versions of life, all stages, all things painful and peaceful. I see myself there. We understand one another. I close my eyes and loll in his calming cosmos, admiring the stars that can sparkle in his misting bliss, the swirling tails of floating fire, and gentle rotation. I let him take me. I fall into conscious oblivion. I am loved. I am not alone, I say to myself, and I am loved.
When a joke turns serious Y/n gets roped into going back down to Texas to do something she has wanted to do for a while. Ghost hunt. Not with just anyone, her sisters boyfriend and his friends who happen to be twins.
What happens when her sister can't make it and she is left to face her past there alone? Will she further her connection to the spirit world? What other connections will she make?
