Nylein Wynters and her master, Frolyn Everwhist, are the very last two of their kind. They are the very last people to wield magic. The very last Sorcerers. The Wolves from all around the world have wiped the Sorcerers out, their intent to make them extinct.
Frolyn found Nylein when she was only a toddler, slashed and bloodied from when her and her parents were attacked. Frolyn took her under his wing and raised her as his own, since he had lost his own family from an attack. He wears the scars of the battle proudly and chooses to not use an enchantment to cover them.
During the years of raising Nylein, he has made her his apprentice in the ways of Sorcery. They have had many close encounters with the Wolves. They are constantly on the run to avoid the possibility of death and the extinction of their kind.
And one factor has Frolyn running even more and even faster to save and protect his apprentice. It's a factor none of them even saw coming.

After re-reading Engines of Alchemancy in preparation for writing the 3rd book in the series, I decided to post the entire book on Wattpad. It's a good story, and I'd love to have readers such as yourself give it a try. Engines of Alchemancy is the 1st book in The Alchemancer series. It's followed by The Nullification Engine and The Inversion Solution. You can find out more about The Alchemancer series and my other books here: https://www.scottmarlowe.com/page/the-alchemancer *** Infernal engines consume the world and only a sorcerer's apprentice who knows nothing about magic can stop them. The Alchemancer series begins. Chaos erupts in the Barony of Fallmere when a surprise elemental attack destroys Norwynne Keep. Aaron Shepherd and Shanna Bonnerman survive, but Shanna is soon lost in the fallout of the keep's destruction while Aaron is forced to flee for his life. Unbeknownst to Aaron, Shanna becomes a captive of the enemy who destroyed their home. This enemy, a savant who claims to follow the path of science, speaks of ancient, infernal devices and a quest to reclaim the greatest of them all. Certain the savant means to kill her, Shanna is instead surprised when she finds herself embarking upon the adventure of a lifetime. Meanwhile, only the worst of nightmares awaits Aaron. Pursued by dwarven raiders, mad sorcerers, and a host of demons who will not stop until he is dead, the only thing keeping him alive is his own wits and an eslar mercenary whose reputation as a killer might make him the worst threat of all. Though Aaron and Shanna travel different paths, their purposes align when they each learn of a mysterious device known as the Fifth Element. Shanna sees it as the final piece of the puzzle that is her destiny. To Aaron's logical mind, it is an impossible ambiguity. Whatever the answer, the Fifth Element draws them back together and into a final confrontation where science and sorcery will collide.

~How deep can the darkness take you... before you lose your soul?~ "Tell me," she said, because the emptiness inside was yawning, stretching, consuming and she suddenly needed something, someone, needed to feel anything other than empty. She hated being empty. And she didn't want him to be empty either. She remembered that. It was like a film had been lifted from her eyes and as she looked down at him, she understood something. With other people, she didn't have to be human. Even with Thorn, he simply knew her. Andreas made her feel human. She didn't know how to be human, didn't know what it involved or what she should do. Humans were fragile, humans could be broken, and Sin was already broken enough. But she wasn't as broken as him. And maybe it was that fact that had her reaching for him, turning so she was laying on the bed beside him, stretching so she could wrap her arms around him and hold him close to her. Maybe it was that knowledge that made her want to protect him from the world. Because she'd thought the gods cruel only to her. She'd been wrong. So she closed her eyes and breathed him in, then breathed out, releasing everything inside her until she was simply... Sin. And she whispered into his hair, softly, five more impossible words. "I can hear you screaming." Dropped into an unknown, dangerous world and thrown together by chance, two people are now in a race for survival. One, a dark sorcerer with a haunted past and a deadly reputation, and the other, a cursed assassin with a chaotic soul. Both are powerful, domineering, and arrogant. Neither are team players. And yet, they'll have to work together if they want to get out alive... that is, if they manage not to kill each other first. (A collaboration/co-write by @Michillie and @Literacy101)

Arriving in a new world, humans found themselves to be the only ones unable to use magic. After a few peaceful years, a bloody war broke out between mankind and the nymphs, creatures most skilled in magic. Several centuries passed. Hiding behind the walls, humans in all eight kingdoms were trying to squeeze every last bit of technology to fight against the constant threat from the nymphs. But if the end justifies the means, the risk of losing humaneness is no less than losing a war. The storylines take place simultaneously. Cornelia, the young princess of the Castro kingdom, seeks a way to help people survive in the harshest territory and to oppose her father. Meanwhile, in the Vardana Kingdom, Ashwin, a young son of a vizier who was accused of treason, is captured and sentenced to a brutal execution. The hunchback girl, Bug, finds a strange magic artifact that forever changes her life as an outcast. Their different approaches may lead to a disastrous end, or open different paths for humanity's future. P.S. The cover is created by Sae Vain https://www.artstation.com/saevain P.P.S.
