It is 1977 and Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson meet at the end of their time at Edinburgh University as they share the long car ride down to London. They argue and disagree over everything, especially on whether a man and women, or straight and gay man can be just friends, growing more agitated and part in London on unfriendly terms. 
Years later, they meet again in a bookstore and attempt to stay friends without sex becoming an issue between them.  Their developing sexualities and complicated lives steer them together, as well as drive them apart, but they are determined to remain friends.
