A stand alone novel. 
In post-apocalyptic Oklahoma, a boy named Rush and his friends find themselves the lone survivors of the destruction of their home town, Woodward, and search desperately to reunite and find safety among a million fears. He finds himself in the middle of a war and can't seem to find a way out. This is the story of Rush, his self-dehumanization, and his will to survive.

His raggedy silver beard, smell of sweat, cigarettes and just the persona of dominance made me want to recoil back in fear as a sick Cheshire grin creeped up his face. "Good thing I have a gun." Since a young age Francesca has taken up the role of being a motherly figure for not only her own self, but her younger brother, Max, since her mothers passing. Even though her state has been secured off, some people whom are infected somehow seem to sneak in and rise havoc. The infected are no longer considered humane, they crave flesh and have all taken an animalistic side, resorting to eating and devouring anything with a heart beat. No compassion, no empathy. No remembrances of their past life. When Francesca's state is found to no longer be secure, she finds her and her family, far past the "safe" borders to which the President has proclaimed. What dangerous fate will Francesca be tossed into?

Now he lives under the hospital with his trusty cat Buckwheat, hiding from the daylight and wondering why him, out of all the infected, has to "live" with the curse of sanity after his demise.
