A short story Joanne AU

A little idea I had that grew into a short 16 chapter book.

"Oh my god, sorry," Joe heard, just after a small, fast moving body collided with him on a busy street causing the coffee in his hand to wobble dangerously. He blinked and looked down, seeing a woman with short brown hair picking up something she had dropped- her phone- Joe realised. She picked it up and wiped it against her leg with a groan.

"Don't worry," he held his hand out for her, "here."

The petite woman took his hand and Joe's stomach flip-flopped churning the bagel he had inhaled on his way out of the door this morning; the woman's hand felt all too familiar. As she reached his eye level, Joe had to stop a gasp that was trying to escape his lips, "Dianne?"

"Yes? How do you know my n-" she had just looked up at him from the phone in her hand and all words flew from her head at the sight of those piercing eyes.

"I don't believe it."

"Joe," she dropped his hand, "oh my, bloody hell."

There was a moment or two of what could only be described as an awkwardly unpleasant silence, as they both took the person in front of them in, in all of their glory.

"Most intriguing. You obviously know who - and what - I am, but you don't run." He leaned toward her and felt her body react. "Quite the opposite in fact," he murmured as he kissed her neck. Claire felt a shockwave of desire for him. She wasn't sure how long she would be able to think clearly. "Myrnin, wait...We have to talk...You have to remember," she said between breaths. "My dear, you needn't use such far-fetching pretext to gain my attention," he purred seductively. "All you need to do is ask and I will freely give to you. Not that I don't enjoy these amusements. You have intrigued me. Which indeed, is no small accomplishment." Her breathing was becoming shallow as he trailed kisses from her neck to her ear. Before she could stop herself, she found her fingers entwined in his hair. His voice was low as he stepped purposefully between her legs and slid her forward, right to the edge of the bed, to meet him. He growled softly in her ear, "Tell me what is it that you desire? Ask anything. I promise you won't be disappointed." Claire inhaled sharply, all intelligent thought gone from her mind. She felt his hand slide up her leg - the one sheathed with the hidden dagger - and stop. "My, my, my...Aren't you full of surprises? " he growled low in pleasure in his throat, "Would you like to try to use that on me? I think I might enjoy that game very much." She felt his hand gently remove the dagger and whispered against his lips, "No we can't do this. Not here, not now, and not when you don't remember me." "I will most definitely remember you," he kissed her neck and jawline as Claire felt his wandering hand continue to glide up her leg. "You are quite a contradiction, little Claire. Your lips say no, but..." He found what he was looking for and she gasped. He smiled wickedly. "Your body clearly says yes." Note - Story contains some sexual content and strong language. I do not own Morganville Vampires, just the plot to this tale.

"Brandon..... You're hurting me.", I hissed at him as he tightened his hold around my arm. "I don't give a fuck!", He hissed back digging holes inside me through his gaze. The person who stood in front of me, wasn't even a smallest, single fraction of the Brandon I loved... the Brandon who loved me. "Now listen carefully....", he dragged me as he pushed me against a wall hurting my back still holding my arm tightly. "I'm warning you for the last time.", He hissed closing the distance between the two of us to zero. His closeness still had an effect on my heartbeat that raced manically but little did it effect Brandon who stood digging holes into my entire body through his death glare. "I'm warning you for the last time... Don't test my patience. Try and act smart again and I'll show you how I can ruin you, your entire family and that little business of yours and the families of hundreds of your employees. Trust me, if killing you was an option I wouldn't have waited for a single second to get rid of you... So don't get on my nerves before I decide to change my mind.", He said out loud glaring directly into my eyes. There wasn't a small hint of sadness or sorrow but pure hatred and annoyance in his eyes as he uttered those words rendering me rather shocked. He let go off my arm and walked out I stood still, frozen at the thought of how can he hate me so much? My heart still flattered at his touch and here he was... He hated me to death! ********** For six years Amy stayed away from home, her family and friends. She ran away leaving behind everything and everyone. Even the guy she loved with all her heart. "What reason do I have to lie?" He looked up at me with squinted eyes. "Hmm, Maybe because YOU KIDNAPPED ME?" I yelled at him, throwing whatever was closest to me, which happened to be the plate I had just eaten off of. The plate missed his head but hit the wall behind him with a thump, it shattered to pieces onto the couch, food splattering all over. His eyes glazed over with anger. "Did you just throw that at my head?" He asked in a scary calm tone. I gulped, "Maybe if you weren't such an asshole I wouldn't have." I spoke, my voice shaking as much as my body was. "I'm not an asshole!" He yelled at me as he stood to his feet, and in two long strides made his way over to me. He grabbed me by the arms and pushed his face inches away from mine. Wanting to push his buttons, I did the only thing I could think of. "Only an asshole would say that." I told him, my voice low. I was mad and I wanted to see what he would do. He held my arms down. I laughed in his face, "What are you gonna do? Hit me?" I pushed, I wanted to prove a point, I wanted to show him how much of a monster he truly is. He released his grip, "No. No I'm not." He stood up and walked towards the door, running his hands through his hair. I was surprised, but decided to push further, to see how far I could actually push him. "Why not? You've done it before." I pointed out, my confidence growing now that he didn't hit me for that. He leaned on the door frame, his back to me. "Because I can't do it!" He yelled, turning around to face me. He strode towards me, anger fuming off of him. I cowarded away from him, scared he was going to hit me again. But, I wanted him to, just to make a point, but he did something that surprised me a lot more. He kissed me. *** April Hastings, a seemingly normal girl is abducted by her handsome boss. Two broken souls in the midst of a crazy world. Two souls running away from their past. There was no light at the end of the tunnel. The tunnel was cracking, slowly closing in. When these two connect, as if they were set on the same path, light creeps in through the cracks, and for or a moment, the tunnel seems to have a way out, but what if it collapses before they make it? - "You saved my life." The words come out as a whisper, I've been dying to say that. I thank god every day that he came into my life when he did. "Fuck Vivian, you don't know how much I needed you." I tear up just a little as he speaks, I don't know the last time I cried happy tears. I bring my hands up to cup his cheeks, resting my forehead against his. "No matter how much I push, I don't mean it. Please don't give up on me." My words seem to relieve him in some way as I feel his shoulders relax. "Even when I'm gone, I'll be by your side, forever." He brings his hand, sticking his pinky out. "pinky promise."I wrap mine around his, placing a kiss on his lips. Warning before you read!! This is my first book! This book will contain topics of SA, eating disorders, and mature content, if any of these things may bother you in anyway, please scroll! I hope when I finish this book I can public a clean version, with a different perspective leaving out these topics, but for now, this is how i've envisioned this story to go! Enjoy -Ash🌸

This is a series of 12 one-shots that explore these private perspectives - one moment at a time!
