Russia's Imperial House has no heir, throwing it into turmoil.

Tsesarevich Alexei has come out as gay, Tsarevich Nicholas has been grievously wounded in action and retired from royal duties.

All hopes of an heir from the much beloved branch of the Romanovs are dashed.

Although a son is born to an Imperial cousin five years later, securing the continuation and stability of the House of Romanov, the newly crowned Tsar Alexei still refuses to officially name an heir leaving a staunchly proud nation quaking on it's knees.

The only thing Katherine Melbourne, wayward daughter of the Imperial English Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium; had bargained for was a hot steamy one-night stand before taking a position as a United Nations Relief Worker, which was delivered by a breathtakingly handsome stranger she knew only as Demetri.

Yet Demetri is not who he seems, he is none other the Tsesarevich Nicholas Romanov, recently named heir to Tsar Alexei; the name Demetri a carefully crafted alias that has allowed him to remain anonymous for the last ten years.

When royal politics thrown them together once again the sparks between the two are noted by the Tsar, Katherine not only becoming a person of interest; but also the new Imperial Ambassador for England to the House of Romanov.

Katherine finds herself at the mercy of Nicholas and his dark secrets as she is thrown into the world of imperial diplomacy, the bed of Russia's heir and into the crosshairs of every royal house in Europe.
