Realize that the darkness would always win, that it's always lurking, lurking there. 
Because the brighter the light is, the darker the shadow caused. 
It's patient, it's persistent, it's relentless. 
It is everywhere.
Originally named the Brighter the Light, the Darker the Shadow but the name was too name...
If that name pops up anywhere, you know what it means now, because TBTL, TDTS might still be the name used somewhere throughout the book but I have no idea where all of it is and therefore don't really want to change it.

Ghost only exist in movies and your nightmares right? Well you're wrong they do exist. You just can't see them, but I can. The only different between you and me is that if you wake up from your nightmare it's over, but if I wake up from a nightmare it just continues.
