In the beginning the norm was, well normal until one day a child was born, but he was floating. But then everyone started to gain powers, called marottes. The marottes were different for everybody, except for families, the child would have a combination of the two or a variant of one of their parents marotte. The marotte develops at age 4. But there was a 15% chance of not having a marotte.
