Jacob Arden was never really a social soccer player. Most of the boys Jacob played with saw soccer as a time to hang out with friends and have some fun after a long day at school. But Jacob didn't have many friends, he could count them all on one hand, although he didn't need his hand to remind him he had no friends. With his military father always on call and his mother raising his ten year old brother, Jacob had lots of time to himself. The Arden family moved constantly across the country, never staying in one place for more than a year or two. Jacob is just finishing up his grade 11 year when he receives the opportunity of a lifetime, and the chance to make friend or something more.

Teenage boys Hugo and John had a bit of a summer fling during a holiday in the South of England. Hugo does not expect to ever see John again when the holiday is over. Which is okay. He doesn't really do too well with endings or goodbyes. But what is a boy to do when he happens to transfer to the same school as his summer romance? And what if said summer romance isn't exactly openly 'out' yet and isn't sure if he even wants that to change?
