Kara Danvers is a hard-working woman with great friends and an amazing job as a reporter but recently she has been down on her luck. There were cutbacks and she didn't make the cut. Her barely getting by suddenly turned into not getting by at all. The least she could do was finally put her powers to good use but without a good designer, who she definitely can't afford she doesn't have a proper costume and as such is taken as a joke. Moving back home is not an option seeing that her adoptive parents didn't even know of her falling apart life nor the fact that she is jobless.

Barry Allen, the only friend that has stuck with her through thick and this has just recently quit his job on the police force to go back to university to get a BS in biology, Since he has an apartment close to the school he invites her to come live with him.
