Has there ever been something, something you knew that was there but couldn't see, something you saw but couldn't re-trace what it was, no matter how hard you tried?
Or....maybe......just maybe you've been there. Seen them. In the place that I speak of, there is real evil. Demon like figures collecting the lost hopes and dreams of children. Monsters that will whisk you away in the mists of the night. Villains with one motive and one motive only. To kill. Watch the blood ooze from your frozen lips. But, there is still light still dear reader. And as long as you remember that, they can't hurt you.
But, if you fail, if you can't see the light flowing down from the would above.......just know,
No matter what you do.
No matter where you go
Even in death,
He will find you, and you would will never be the same again.

All I've ever known is fear, and a strange dream...a reoccurring nightmare, where someone is hunting me, chasing me, never gaining or receding, in a strange place where everything is bathed in an orange hue. I live in a grey world where everyone is the same....if anyone finds out I'm not 'normal', it will mean a trip to the 'mind doctor, who I fear more than the nightmares. I could lose what little independence I have...it's all I own, all I am. Until one day, the dream finds me... I wake from the latest nightmare, and find a note warning of danger, and that 'they' are coming. BOOK ONE: Having enough courage to run through the woods and away from the people who convinced me they were saving me was not how I believed I'd spend my day. Yet, there I went escaping from the only place I knew existed in the world. Being held captive was too much for me, especially when these people wouldn't tell me who they were or even who I was. The first moment in my life I recall very clearly. I awoke in a dark room, with recollection of everything that happened in the world except for one thing. I had no memory of myself existing, I didn't know where I was or why these men kept me from leaving. Days after I first woke I asked plenty of questions, and yet none of them were answered. The only thing I learned was that I was not allowed outside because the woods heald the most powerful magic on the planet, the most dangerous magic. It was more than just bad men and curiosity about the forest that got me to leave, it was a pull towards something; towards magic. Once I was in the forest turning back was never an option, so I put it in my head that I'd keep walking until I found a civilization or a nice paved road that would lead to safety. But that never happened because the forest has a force living through it. Believing that the forest held something strange was the easy part but experiencing it myself was something totally different. I didn't expect anything normal but I didn't expect to be completly engulfed into the forest. I was led by an unknown presence that made me truly believe it was a living being, and in fact it is. I was innocent then, but now I know that anything can be hidden under a small platform in the woods with a secret bigger than the world itself. A land of shadows, of mystery, of obfuscated Truth. Welcome to the Greylands, that strange world, within the bounds of Time, peopled by mortal men. We cannot see truly, only as through a glass, darkly. There are things that move and have their being completely beyond our ability to perceive them. There are things beyond our mortal ability to comprehend. There are hints and glimmers hidden within the body of revealed Truth, but there is much we do not know, cannot yet understand, and could never dare dream. These stories are mere fancy, with a seed of Truth at their core. They play with the ideas of mortality and Eternity, Time and things beyond it, and of course the epic battle of Good against Evil. Each stands alone, and though there are common themes, threads, names, and concepts, each story is an entity unto itself and should not be seen as occurring in the same world or mistaken for installments of a series. These are random musings, not Gospel Truth, and should not be taken as such. Joy, hope, and encouragement are hopefully a byproduct, but certainly not sound Theology. If you would know more of the true world beyond these Greylands, one must be a careful student of the Scriptures, not of silly stories such as these. Many people believe that the blind are only those who can't see. They are wrong. Everyone is blind, in one way or another. Blindness comes in many forms. Those who are blind to the evils of the world are blind to reality. Those who are blinded by beauty are consequently blind to the fact that it comes with a price. And those who are blinded by light are also blind to the notion that it is accompanied by shadows. And though I must admit that I, too, was not above being blind. I knew the shadows all too well. My life was lead in the shadow of a wall; I was born shrouded in it, and if it were up to them, I would die the same way as well. The very moment I began to understand the world around me was the same moment it came crashing down. For at that moment, I realized that this wasn't my world. It was theirs. I had previously said that I was not immune to blindness. I knew I was different, but as they say, everybody is different for a reason. But I was blind to the fact that my reason was him. I was blind to the cruel twist of Fate that allowed my captor to become my liberator, and I was blinded again by the same cruel twist of Fate that made my liberator my captor. I was blind to the implications of making a deal quite literally signed in blood, and I was blind to the fact that it would bind me to the life of another for eternity as we knew it.
