Kaitlyn.

I tossed and turned in my sheets holding my 5 year old sister, Allyson, and hoped, prayed life would get better for the both of us.. With my mom dieing and my dad leaving us. God is all we have right now, and he's all we rely on.

August.

Life... What the fuck is that? People always say I'm living one but honestly I don't what the hell life is. I don't got no momma, her ass kicked me out. I'm trying to make on these streets. I'm just hustlin. One day I wanna sing. But until then I bet Imma be in this game for a long time.

August and Kaitlyn are gonna face challenges and everything. But that's just what'll take. To make it. In these streets. In downtown NOLA.

Growing up motherless wasn't always what the 18-year-old Tanya Moore would've dreamt of. Life had a funny way of doing things ya know? It was bad enough she only got to spend the first quarter of her life with her mother before she lost her to stupid cancer. The only time they got to hang out was Saturday and Sunday before and after Church. She was always at home with her father, he wasn't always so bad, he was a great man, a great husband, and a loving father.. he was a retired war veteran and did nothing but collect his checks and would occasionally do favors for old friends. Stacy Moore was a high school teacher and all the kids in the neighborhood loved her. She was always so sweet and would sing to her class if they did well. A loving mother, wonderful wife, amazing daughter, a great friend, but when the good Lord calls, there is simply nothing we can do about it. As much as we may try, God always has the final say, it may be a bad way to turn things out, but remember things happen for a reason and God never makes mistakes. Once she passed away after battling cancer for three years, things changed.. for the worst, and poor sweet little Tanya was caught in the crossfire of it all. We're all afraid of something or someone, we all get tired, we all get fed up with the same old routine, but the question is, how much is enough? When is it simply too much? When should you begin to fight back or run? How long should you sit there and let the only person that you once loved and looked up to continue to misuse and abuse you? Tell me something, if you had a chance to get help would you run and never look back?

My name, is Armani- meaning shy, unique, and for those I care about, relentless. I'm from downtown New Orleans, yeah that one; the one that no good backstabbing Alsina boy from. Matter fact I knew the real him. I loved the real him! Him and Mel. Melly B was my bestfriend. They helped me and my little sister out of a terrible situation, made us feel like family, took us into a loving home- something we never really had. But right when our happiness was finally falling into place, they left us, both of them left us. My happiness just up and burned away. One promised me that when he came up and could afford the life he thought we deserved he would return for me and my sister, but of course the good life took over his mind, the flashing lights blinded him to the lost souls that he'd left behind. So, in other words, he never did come back for us. In the end I realized I only have myself. I have to take care of myself- I'm the only person who's going to watch after me and my Kali. She's all I got and I'm all she's got, so either way it goes I'm going to take care of mines. But all in all I will never forgive him. Ever! He took away my happiness. He took away my heart. He took away a part of my world, when I had already lost so much. But he promised me .... he promised he would come back for me, for us. But I guess in the end he didn't really care about me just like everybody else in the world. So I held on to my happiness named Kali and swore on my life I would protect her with everything in me, I would die for her just like Mel would have. And that's what I did for years. I covered up all the things that made me vulnerable, put my past behind me- well I tried to at least- and became a model to provide for me and my Kali. That is until 'he' was right there in front of me, the one I begged to Don't Forget About Me. He-He was right there...the beloved man himself. The king of heart breakers himself. And they call him- "August."
