Meet Mirielle Fre'de'ric, an aspiring 15 year old singer. When Mirielle was just a baby, her parents got a divorce leaving her dad custody of her, and her mum custody of her fraternal twin sister. Not long after the divorce, Mirielle's mother takes Mirielle's sister and moves over 5,000 miles away to go live in California. Fifteen years later, Mirielle's dad gets transferred to San Diego. He has no other choice but to drag Mirielle with him and get back together with his ex-wife. Mirielle is forced to leave her somewhat happy life in Brighton, and attend a high school as a "sophomore" in one of the most judgemental, ritzy, cookie-cutter schools in California.Things start off bad from the minute she arrives in San Diego. She doesn't fit in anywhere, not even in her own family. Soon she starts to get verbally abused by her classmates, neighbours, and even her own twin sister. Her self esteem and dreams of becoming a singer vanish, and she feels like she has nobody. Her life goes downhill from there. That is until her dad has to take in some victims who's lives are at stake and keep their identities hidden. Five teenage boys, known as One Direction, have just been stalked by a serial murderer. As a private investigator, her dad volunteers to keep these boys undercover until they are claimed safe. As Mirielle as at her breaking point, these boys take her under their wings and help her regain her happy life again. This is a story of bullying, achieving your dreams, and one girl's struggle to try to fit in.
