My tail flapped against the current, the salty taste of the ocean wafting into my nose as my nostrils flared. My father was never the one to let me roam on my own - in fact, I've always been cooped up in my room, watching my sisters and brother run around like royalty. I never have had any interest in those things, however every night on every full moon, I was able to participate in the Annual Siren Event; an event that led to bringing more mer-folk into our community.
Usually you find your soul mate in moments like these, but for the past four years, I haven't found my person like everyone else. My father was disappointed in me, hoping that every time I will find him. I had given up hope on it, believing that I was meant to be alone forever, but on one fateful night, I met him and my life chanted forever.

Alex.. That's all I remembered that summer night 3 years ago.. It was my 19th birthday and I was celebrating at the beach house, like we always did. Together. This summer was different.
