Mature
Raised in the tough foster care system of East Side Calhoun Heights, Maryland, Roderick Payne never had it easy and consistently chose the wrong path. After spending more than a year in a youth correctional facility for a drug charge, he gets one last chance to turn his life around. He is given the option to either finish his last year of high school and stay out of trouble or finish his full prison sentence as an adult. While school is annoying to him, it gives him the opportunity to make amends with those he hurt; especially Jacory Hamilton, his only love. However, it isn't long before Roderick finds himself in a familiar environment. With the need to stay out of trouble constantly competing with the reality of his situation, Roderick discovers just how rigged and cold the game has always been.
