Orphaned Victorie Beckenridge, a regular, Californian girl from the U.S. inherits an estate in Mayberry, England from her late Grandfather, who was supposed to be her new guardian after her parents died in a car accident, but passed away from heart failure soon before Victorie was to stay with him and her distant cousins.

While there, she meets the eccentric girl cousin of hers, Ann Beckenridge, and Ann's adopted-if stranger-brother, Teddy Carter, who were staying with their Great Uncle (Victorie's grandfather) while their journalist dad traveled the world for his job before Victorie's grandfather died. Now, they'll be staying with Victorie and their multiple governesses.

Victorie soon realizes there is something off about Mayberry, and the Beckenridge Estate in whole, that she just can't wrap her finger around. Maybe it was the way everyone talked like it was still the Victorian Era when it's the 21st century, or how the gardens in every surrounding estate in Mayberry had only three types of flowers, or even how everyone seemed to think that England was still ruled by Queen Victoria. Either way, something strange was going on in Mayberry, and Victorie is scared to find out what it might be, but curious, too.

And maybe, her strange cousins can help her find out the truth behind Mayberry.

This is a #TeenFictionAnotherYearShortStory entry. --- Believe me, when adulting takes place, you forget your naïve little side instantly and are ready to fit yourself in the big boots. But let's say, it's too soon for Olivia Dee. For her, graduation was a ceremony, a consummation of all the misery and guilt she had had to bear, of which none whispered-and she finally had the chance to leave it all behind. But the world's twisted, right? What if...I say, she has to relive all her past memories--that nasty first kiss, to be labelled a troublemaker, to be accused of things she could never imagine ever doing? Sadly, this is not her decision to make. A day after her graduation, she wakes up to face her senior year again. She knows that she had completed her education, she spends hours yelling about it on everyone's face. But at the end, she has to go to college again with one question--how does she even return back in time? But this time, all she has to do is grapple with a recurring dream, try to eliminate all the dark spots in her senior year and find out the reason of this travel back in time. Yet one thing's for sure, she hasn't travelled back in time. I give you my word. I know. There are numerous black-outs, sudden falls, chills, drama and a whole different system of cheating, drugs, revenge and a famous Queen sister, who is, mysteriously, now not famous at all. Watch her swim and drown, as she struggles between her reality and to keep up with her past struggles again, literally. Meanwhile, there's one context she never understands: Death undoes anything. *** Credit to @cattown_graphics She is a real darling, and managed to present me this cover at a very short notice. I'm so grateful!

edit (7/6/23): bro what is this story? plot execution sucks fr 😭 A hard-working widow, Charlotte Wormwood, lost her daughter in a tragic accident. 20 years later, she stumbles across a homeless girl who appeared to have the same birthmarks as her deceased daughter! She appeared to have knowledge of her daughter's past life! Charlotte tries to solve the mystery of her daughter's death and the peculiar girl. She gets trapped in a morbid time machine which travels her to 1945, the year on her daughter's death, to try to save her from the events. Could this all be a coincidence or just some weird hoax? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone has there own secrets. Some are dark and morbid, even when everyone in your town talks about it. You swore to secrecy that they wouldn't tattle, but you sometimes can't trust them, even if something goes terribly wrong that the truth has to be uncovered.... Warning: contains violence in some scenes. I have no interest or intention in actually killing someone or something. This is just a book I like to write and criminal minds in the '40s-'60s got me thinking of writing my very first book (which is this one). Also, some sensitive topics include religion, so viewer discretion is advised. Enjoy reading this book. Thank you so much on reading this! I appreciate it! A/N: this is my first story ever. 🌚🌝 y'all this is my first story ever. pretty crap, if I do say so myself. so I apologize if the story and it's events is pretty confusing. It's super cringe and weird, because I made this a bit ago when I wasn't even a teen yet. ➪ started: 4/12/21 ➪ published: 4/14/21 ➪ finished: 10/11/21

*** OPEN NOVELLA CONTEST 2021 - HONORABLE MENTION *** The year is 1907, and Amalthea Huntley, Countess of Claremont, is bored. Recently widowed at a young age, she finds very little to entertain her in Edwardian London, until an unusual turn of events at a society party plants the seed of an idea. Lady detective? Why not? It would only be a hobby after all. Lending her considerable powers of observation to some of her closer acquaintances to help resolve their more sensitive issues. After all, what could be so difficult? An instance of minor household theft here, a brief indiscretion there. And it would serve to pass the time. Yes, she resolved. With some careful thought, she was sure she could pull it off, and it would certainly liven things up. Little did Amalthea know that she had bitten off far more than she could chew, when she suddenly finds herself embroiled in a dangerous murder investigation, her only ally being an attractive but rather disagreeable private investigator with a secretive past and a strong dislike for opinionated women. Still, if she wasn't careful, she could find that the biggest threat to her latest diversion was not the case at all, but rather an unexpected something, or someone, a little closer to home.
