A mass explosion at the ghost portal house sends Avery and Jamie running off, thinking the world is safe from the malevolent creatures in the basement. But they soon come to realize that not only were those creatures likely released into the world *thanks* to the explosion, but they found their way out snug and cozy inside their intended vessel, Jessamine. Jessamine... who is *not* dead as they thought she were.
Avery is forced to team up with the unpleasant Guide, Ada, to determine the next steps in saving the world from a demonically possessed Jessamine--if it's even possible to stop her. The demon door was opened, but some demons have remained behind, and it's on Avery--the "wild card" of the prophecy--to go inside and ask the questions no one wants to ask: what do the demons plan on doing to the world, and how? And is there any way to prevent them from realizing their malicious goals?
