"You weren't supposed to fall in love, Devarsh." Her voice was almost gentle. "That wasn't part of the plan." His fingers twitched. He didn't know whether he wanted to touch her or strangle her. "You used me." The words tasted like blood in his mouth. Sanvi didn't deny it. His laugh was hollow, broken. He dragged a trembling hand through his hair, tugging hard enough to hurt. "And I would still let you." Sanvi's breath hitched. Just for a second. Devarsh tilted his head, studying her, his lips curling into something that wasn't quite a smile. "You want to know the real tragedy, Cielito?" His voice was soft, deadly. "I don't even hate you for it." Sanvi opened her mouth, but no words came out. His hands curled into fists, nails biting into his skin. "I would still die for you. I would still kill for you. And you-" He exhaled, shaking his head. "You were just waiting for the moment I'd be weak enough to break." Sanvi swallowed. Devarsh leaned in, eyes locking onto hers, and for the first time, there was no anger. No possession.
