❝ The skeletons in both our closets

"Why are you so afraid to love anyone?" Matthew asked abruptly. The question surprised the girl, but she answered nevertheless.

"There's lots of reasons," she paused, thinking over her words. "I mean, obviously, there's heartbreak involved. Love and heartbreak kind of go hand in hand. There's also the fact that I don't want to depend on anyone, because the only person you can really rely on is yourself."

"That still doesn't explain it," the boy sighed.

"Well," Ascella finally broke eye contact with the green eyed boy, rather turning to look back up to the stary sky. "Maybe I'm afraid to love people because I don't believe anyone could really love me they way I love them."

"I do," he wants to say, but he doubts she would ever really listen to him.

They're two people from what appears, at first, like two very different walks of life but their lives collide unexpectedly. It was just a dare to him, it meant nothing... at first. He was just a wrong number, a complete stranger. But neither can seem to let go though, hooked like a drug, and hopelessly waiting for the next notification...
