Most people call her kind of shifter a werewolf. Though she has never been involved with a pack, she finds herself caught up with a stranger who claims that the myths about soul-mates, mates, are true and that he will find a way for her to finally realize that love is what she needs in life.

Life has never seemed more serene than as I lay dying. Blood coats the forest floor beneath me, connecting with the foilage-covered soil in a parade of musty, copper smells.
