Kirstine Adair is an American Historian who graduated from Yale University. She is known for her intelligence, wittiness, and passion for Scottish heritage. Pursuing her love for the history of Scotland, she travels to the beautiful country in order to learn more about its culture and the ancestors of her family. Little does she know, she steps upon the infamous stone circle of Craigh Na Dun that lies just outside the town of Inverness. The stones seem to bring her into the past, the exact date being October 15th, 1746, where she meets James Fraser. A journey like no other is set upon her and she faces challenges that may prevent her from going back to the present, including her love for Jamie.
